What's new with Slingbacks and Syrup?

January 6th, 2009 - Happy New Year! And it is a happy one. After a year full of unemployment and cancer, it is time for a fresh start! And to that end, Slingbacks and Syrup has been in the news again. Check out the January edition of NewEnglandFilm.com and read the article "Burlington Beauties." In addition, Slingbacks and Syrup is now for sale on FilmBaby.com and in Vermont at the Peace and Justice Center and Lenny's Shoes! So we are off to a great new year, and lets hope it keeps going strong. Exciting things are in the air.

November 4th, 2008 - Yes, it is election night, and as I write this I am watching the news. Slingbacks and Syrup has news too! You can now buy copies of the DVD on Amazon.com! Copies are already selling there and we are very happy. In addition, you can now watch the movie online through an exciting new service called Caachi. Caachi is a website that supports independent filmmakers by distributing their films online, and they are selective on who they represent. So we were very excited to be selected by them. Visit Caachi.com and you can purchase Slingbacks and Syrup for instant viewing!

October 27th, 2008 - Slingbacks and Syrup is a HIT!!!! That's right. At the Vermont International Film Festival, Slingbacks and Syrup drew a larger crowd than any other film. And the audience loved it. Laughing and cheering all the way through, they had a great time. Not to mention that the House of LeMay was there and swore the audience in as honary members of the League of Drag Queen Voters!

October 6th, 2008 - We are very pleased to announce that Slingbacks and Syrup will have its world premiere during the Vermont International Film Festival at the Waterfront Theater in Burlington on October 25th at 9pm. Visit www.vtiff.org for details. The House of LeMay will be there, and we are planning a party for afterwards. So we expect to see you all there!

September 29th, 2008 - We are anxiously awaiting word from the Vermont International Film Foundation about our entry. We should hear within days. In the meantime, Slingbacks and Syrup is being submitted to try and get it distribution. I am not mentioning any names but we have been asked to submit a copy for review by an up and coming online distribution website and by a TV network. If any of these move forward, we will let you know as soon as we do.

September 25th, 2008 - Well, the Vermont International Film Festival has copies of Slingbacks and Syrup and we are waiting for word from them on its acceptance. Keep your fingers crossed. In addition, I have completed both my radiation therapy and 2 trailers for the film! I am feeling much better now that therapy is done, and I hope that you enjoy the trailers, which are located on the HOME page. Work is going on now to prepare marketing materials and find distribution channels for the film once it is released. If you know any film distributors, let us know!

August 25th, 2008 - It has been a wild and crazy summer for Slingbacks and Syrup. After officially losing my job in April, and then becoming a cancer survivor in July, I received some additional funding because of a Toyota Truck recall. The world of Beaver Pond is going to have a hard time keeping up with the strangeness of real life. However, despite and because of all of this, Slingbacks and Syrup has now been passed on to the sound studio for cleaning and balancing. SO, very soon the film will be done. At the same time, I am entering it in the Vermont International Film Festival! Hopefully the film will be accepted and can debut in Vermont in October. Keep watching these pages for more exciting updates!

June 2, 2008 - The work continues. Slingbacks and Syrup has now been submitted to 16 film festivals around the country. The festivals are of all different sizes, and we are keeping our fingers crossed to get into one or two of them. Getting into a film festival is not as easy as it sounds, as they often get hundreds and hundreds of entries for only a limited number of spaces. SO, keep your fingers crossed and let's hope for the best! In the meantime, work continues on Slingbacks and Syrup. The editing process is nearing an end, and a first draft of cover art for the DVD has been created! You can see the front of it on the home page. Keep tuning in to stay up to date as we finish off the LeMay's first full length film.

March 3rd, 2008 - At this time, work on Slingbacks and Syrup continues at a faster and faster pace. The movie is currently on its 4th round of reviews and feedback from a variety of sources, and we continue to work with that feedback to improve it. New montages of photos with music underneath them have been added to help vary the pacing of the film.

In addition, fundraising continues to move forward as we look into new grants to apply for and continue to seek private donations.

Finally, We have begun the submission process to a variety of festivals around the country. The current plan is to submit Slingbacks and Syrup to about 10 festivals in hopes of getting into some of them. Keep your fingers crossed and watch here for updates!
